Join CBC Ottawa's Alan Neal on March 19 for a discussion with Canada Reads contender Mark Sakamoto

Join CBC Ottawa's Alan Neal on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at Library and Archives Canada for a conversation with Canada Reads contender Mark Sakamoto.

Canada Reads is CBC's annual "Battle of the Books," and features five celebrity champions defending five Canadian books. Each day on the program, a book is voted off the shelf, until one book is ultimately chosen as the title the whole country should read this year.

Mark will discuss his book Forgiveness, which is the true story of how his grandparents survived the Second World War and how they learned to forgive and move forward for the sake of their children.

Tickets are FREE, but seating is limited so please register here by Sunday, March 18.

The event is co-sponsored by the Ottawa Writers' Festival and Library and Archives Canada.

Share your own story of forgiveness

All in a Day's Alan Neal is asking listeners to join him on stage during this event to share stories of forgiveness. Whether it be about a time you had to ask for forgiveness or had to forgive someone.

Why was it hard? How did you do it? Send your story in a short paragraph to allinaday@cbc.ca before Monday, March 12.

If you story is chosen, you could win a set of Canada Reads books, Canada Reads swag and more. PLUS you'll get to join Alan Neal and Mark Sakamoto onstage at the event.
