Four people were rescued Thursday after abandoning their sinking fishing boat off Chéticamp, N.S.
The military's Joint Task Force Atlantic said in a tweet that a "nearby vessel of opportunity" was helping the people, who were in a life-raft.
Matthew Duffy, of the Fisheries Safety Association of Nova Scotia, confirmed the individuals from the life-raft were brought on to the second boat. He said both boats involved were fishing boats.
He added that incidents like these speak to the importance of having life-rafts inspected.
