Stampede-worthy style: Chic pieces to nab for Calgary or simply to be right on trend

Louis Vuitton holds a special place in the world of style. As one of the biggest fashion houses, the looks that parade down their glamorous runways set the tone for seasons to come. So when bolo ties, swingy fringe and sturdy Stetsons all make an appearance in fall shows, you know that the Wild West will be best. But Vuitton wasn't the only brand that got the rodeo-ready memo. It was a similar style story at Etro, Isabel Marant, DSquared2 and Alberta Ferretti where cowgirls were given the glam treatment thanks to intricate embroideries, tooled leathers, studded suedes and big-buckled belts. The key to wearing it IRL is to pick one stellar piece and let it be the star. But some of us cannot wait until fall; with the Calgary Stampede around the corner, here are 8 great Western-inspired items to wear from the Nashville North stage to the midway.

The Hat

No Stampeder worth their salt would dare show up sans chapeau. The hat is an integral part of the look. This one, with its colorful sequin detail, is different enough to make you stand out in a sea of Stetsons.

The Boots

If you're a traditionalist, the Alberta Boot Company will take good care of your toes (Kate Middleton famously ordered her custom pair there for the royal visit back in 2011). But if you're after the most fashion forward option, try Fendi's pink croc-stamped set on for size. They decorated the feet of nearly every model that walked down the designer's runway.

The Jacket

Denim and fringe will be popular choices so pick a piece that's truly special. This one-of-a-kind jacket by Canadian label Triarchy is not only made by repurposing vintage denim, it's a total showstopper.

The Jewelry

A touch of turquoise has the power to transform a tee and jeans into something that says down home on the ranch. Everything from a pair of simple studs to a stunning collar necklace will do the trick.

Cara Western Necklace, $79.95, nordstrom.com

The Top

A pretty floral top is a Prairie-girl favorite. Plus, it's a piece you'll want to wear beyond the chuck wagon races. Style yours with a denim skirt for extra cowgirl points.

The Jeans

The pale pink pocket embroidery and perfectly worn-in wash on these jeans nods to the western trend without going totally overboard. They also happen to have just the right crop for showing off a cool pair of boots.

The Bag

You can't go wrong with a classic saddle bag. This dusty blue version comes with a convenient cross body strap, which means it'll stay put no matter how many mechanical bulls you take for a spin.

The Belt

Buck the trend of big metallic belt buckles with something slightly subtler. Maje's tasseled take has all the same waist-cinching benefits when worn over jeans, dresses and blouses, but feels way more modern.
